The Free Art Fair will take place for the third and final time in London in 2009 at The Barbican. The art fair where all the work is given away at the end will be the biggest best most fun version ever. For once instead of art going to the highest bidder or those who can afford it, someone who really loves an artwork will be able to have it for free. Artists participating will be asked to incorporate the idea of free into their work by making work that they always wanted to make but felt like they couldn’t.

To claim your chance of owning a brilliant piece of art, simply print off the application and bring it along with you to the closing day on Sunday 18th October, to submit to the Free Art Fair team. On the final day all the art will be given away with people drawn at random to get a chance to choose a piece of art. Please remember the whole Free Art Fair is done for free and we do our best to find the fairest most open way of giving away art!

The giveaway is often discussed as a counterpoint to the commercialisation of the art world. Last year 50 artists including Danny Rolph and Gavin Turk gave away free art works and 2000 catalogues to people who queued to see the exhibition
