Review: Burda Magazine
Review: Burda Magazine
For any of you wanting to improve your sewing skills, I highly recommend Burda, a German sewing magazine that comes complete with patterns to all the layouts. Printed monthly, Burda patterns range from sizes 36 to 48 with special patterns than run in plus sizes. Just as important, for each pattern there are different levels of difficulty, so you'll find something that can meet your abilities. However I do warn that at $4.50, some of the styles can be bulky or look ill-fitting although for the most part Burda patterns are cut exceptionally well, despite the occasional fashion faux-pas. Also noteworthy about Burda are some of the quirky children's patterns like the lederhosen-style skirt in the September issue. At the end of the magazine, there are often good Decor Ideas, accessory patterns, and tips on recycling and revamping clothing. On occasion it can be quite tricky finding Burda, especially the correct month, but it can usually be found in most Borders bookshops!
