An eviction camp and protest has been taking place outside The Foundry, Shoreditch London.
at 8am this morinig, baillifs are due to arrive at the building, to mark the beginning of demolition work to make space for hotels. The Foundry has been a hub for art and culture for a decade, prviding space for artists at all levels to exhibit work for free. Over 3,500 artists have been featured over the past 10 years including Banksy and Faile,as well as musicians such as The Libertines and Hot Chip. Hackney Council has come under much fire for their conduct throughout the eviction process. The loss of The Foundry comes as blow to art lovers across the world, and to all those who cringe at the thought of an inctreasingly corporate, commercialised Shoreditch.
