Cultural Diversity
Forum for Young Leaders on Cultural Policy
June 4th 2010, 10.00am - 2.00pm
City University, Northampton Square, London, EC1V 0HB
A high profile, international platform for young professionals, students and educators in the cultural, arts and educational sectors. The forum aims to advance research and action to further the aims of Unesco’s Convention on the Promotion and Protection of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions, (2005), a unique instrument for international cultural policy and exchange which puts culture at the centre of development agendas.
Speakers from key organisations working in cultural policy in the UK will join representatives from the international, U 40 programme, a growing network of young cultural professionals working to support the aims of Unesco’s Convention worldwide.
UKCCD, the initiators of the forum, is the UK’s leading civil society forum of creators and cultural organisations promoting the Convention for the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions (2005). This groundbreaking treaty champions cultural policy and values in the context of international law, and commits signatories (currently 110) to seek greater exchange and support for creative industries in the developing world.
U40 can be our way to be heard and join the discussion of how to police and manage many of Goldsmiths student's professional future.
